What is St Neots Community Support?

We help the residents of St Neots with their non-emergency tasks. The support we provide uses our local knowledge and partnerships to ease the pressure on frontline staff.

Founded in 2020, our organisation came together as a response to a global pandemic. As nations closed their borders, closer to home, districts and towns began to shut down.

We came together as we knew not everyone could survive alone. Those neighbours, friends and strangers who desperately needed help but didn’t have a friendly local person to ask were in trouble.

We knew it wasn’t the responsibility of the emergency services to pick up shopping, a prescription or simply have a reassuring chat, and that’s why we needed St Neots Community Support.

How we work

Coordinators

Our coordinators receive calls from the St Neots public requesting help. They allocate tasks to volunteers and control and update log entries for audit and safeguarding.

Couriers

Our couriers receive tasks from our coordinators and are out there delivering shopping, prescriptions, and posting letters – the workforce with time to help their neighbours across St Neots.

Friendly callers

Our volunteers are mild-mannered, patient and have calm demeanours and enjoy listening to others. A vital and growing service provided by St Neots Community Support. Our regular friendly calls help isolated, elderly or individuals who need a chat.
